Mara means “mottled”, which is how the Maasai gave it its name due to its expansive open plains mottled with woodlands. Situated in the Great Rift Valley, the Maasai Mara is proudly Kenya’s largest national reserve with an area of 320 square km.

Lake Nakuru National Park, a perfect site for holidays and retreats due to its close proximity to a variety of places of interests, including Hells Gate in Naivasha (1 hour away), Hyrax hills and Lake Elementaita.

The Amboseli National Park belongs to the elite of Kenya’s national parks. It’s greatly known for its accessibility to the hundreds of big-tusked elephants and closely bordered against, Mount Kilimanjaro (5895m). With clear weather (usually at dawn and/or dusk), you will be awed by the stunning views of Africa’s highest peak.The park is also home to an abundance of wildlife, apart from the guaranteed elephant sightings, you’ll also see wildebeest and zebras, with a reasonable chance to catch some lions and hyenas. The park is also home to over 370 bird species.

Day 1: Nairobi to Maasai Mara
After Breakfast, You will be picked from your Hotel at Nairobi and proceed to Maasai Mara via the Great Rift Valley.  The view of the floor of the Rift Valley is breathtaking. Lunch will be served on the way. Afternoon, you will check into camp at Maasai Mara and depart for a game drive in the Mara reserve.  After Drive, return to the camp for a sumptuous buffet dinner and Rest at the Lenchada Tourist Camp.

Day 2: Full Day Game Drive in Maasai Mara Reserve
Spend the full day exploring Maasai Mara in search of the Big Five. You will have picnic lunches in the Reserve as you scale the Mara beauty sited at the banks of Mara river.

Optional: In the evening, Visit the local Maasai village for a Maasai cultural tour at USD10. Learn about the Maasai community and interact with the local Maasai people.

A balloon safari at a discounted USD 380 per person can be organized early morning on this day then proceed with the normal program. It is in the Mara that perhaps the most spectacular event of the natural world takes place: the great migration. This is the annual migration of millions of wildebeest and zebra from the Serengeti (in Tanzania) in search of water and pasture. Following on their heels are the predators of the savanna – lions, cheetahs, jackals, hyenas and vultures.

Day 3: Depart Maasai Mara to Nakuru
You will enjoy the last early morning game drive in Mara Reserve followed by breakfast. Thereafter commence drive to Nakuru.  Upon arrival at 6 pm, you will spend the night at the Lanet Mat Fam hotel and have dinner there.

Day 4: Lake Nakuru to Amboseli National Park
You will have an early breakfast and depart by 7 am, straight to the park. It’s a small park with magnificent, rare white rhinos which form part of the Big five animals. There is also a possibility to see the pink flamingos. Later depart Nakuru for Amboseli National park and arrive in the evening as you check in to the Kibo Safari Camp, dinner and rest.

Day 5: Full Day in Amboseli

Morning breakfast and start the game drive around the park and get to visit the observation point overlooking the whole park on a bird’s eye view angle. Continue with the game drive as you look for the predators (lions and cheetahs). Amboseli has large herds of the elephant population. You can view the great mountain of Kilimanjaro slopes and whole view. Lunch and afternoon rest in the pool. In the evening start the game drive as you look for predators in their active time. Dinner and rest.

Dinner and overnight at Kibo Safari Camp

Day 6: Amboseli to Nairobi.
After an early morning breakfast, proceed to the game drive. There is a higher chance of seeing the predators (leopards). Continue with the game drives till midday, then lunch at the lodge and later in the afternoon depart back to Nairobi and dropped off at the hotel or airport. End of safari.

Here are some of our recommendations to you for getting through a safari:

  • Plenty of sun protection, lotion or cream (High SPF).
  • A wide-brimmed hat to shade you from the sun, this should have string/straps if standing in the van or jeep as it could be blown off.
  • A good pair of sunglasses as you are on the equator where the sun is very strong. Prescription sun spectacles are not recommended as may scratch or fall off the vehicles.
  • Bottle’s or jugs of water to keep you hydrated. Spending a lot of time in the sun, even when wearing hats and sunglasses will dehydrate you in most cases.
  • A fleece/jumper/sweater for the early morning (or a safari jacket) and evening game drives, as it tends to get very chilly, especially in the highlands and in the Masai Mara.
  • Shorts and t-shirts or light trousers for the daytime.
  • Long trousers and long or short-sleeved shirts for the evening and protection from mosquitoes
  • Plenty of film or flash card memory for your camera and a battery charger for all electronic devices.
  • Swimming costumes/bathing suits as most of the lodges and camps have swimming pools.
  • A good pair of binoculars (there’s usually just one pair in vehicles).
  • A pair of safari shoes or trekking boots.
  • A pack of wet wipes.
  • Mosquito repellent.
