Discover Masai Mara game reserve in 3 days! Masai Mara is regarded as one of Kenya’s wildlife viewing jewels. Mara means “mottled”, which is how the Masai gave it its name due to its expansive open plains mottled with woodlands. Situated in the Great Rift Valley, the Masai Mara is proudly Kenya’s largest national reserve with an area of 320 square km. It’s also a place where you have a good chance of spotting the ‘Big Five’ (Lions, Rhinos, Buffalos, Elephants & Leopards) as well as other cheetah’s, hippo’s crocodiles and much more.

There is a large number of other plains game including zebras, different species of antelopes, giraffes, and warthog, which are residents of the Mara all year round. The Mara is a perfect kingdom for the lions but there are also smaller predators such as cheetahs, hyenas, and jackals that roam the Mara area.

Another natural inhabitant is, of course, the Masai people. A semi-nomadic ethnic group known as fierce warriors and have largely remained very independent, staying strong to their traditional values and lifestyle. The Masai never hunt, but live peacefully alongside the wildlife in harmony, this co-existence makes the Masai Mara one of the world’s most interesting and unique wilderness regions.

TRIP DETAILS

Get your Tanzania safari tours experience through two of the country’s greatest highlights – Lake Manyara and Ngorongoro Crater. Find incredible birds and wildlife on this Tanzanian safari.

If you do not have plenty of time but want to experience Tanzania’s wildlife and beauty then this is the perfect trip for you! This short and intense trip will bring you to two of the most spectacular national parks in Tanzania.

The first day you will visit the Lake Manyara national park, a scenic beauty full of wildlife. Also for birdwatchers this is an excellent trip. Flamingos dot the lake surface, joined by myriad other water birds that are best spotted at the end of the dry season. And that’s just the start. Practically all large mammals roam the grassy floodplains, as residents or migratory visitors.

The second day you will be heading to the Ngorongoro Crater. As spectacular as it sounds, this massive crater only accounts for a tenth of the entire Conservation Area. Next to its geologically special features, the crater is home to almost every mammal of the African plains, including the endangered black rhino, and the densest population of predators in Africa. Birdlife is also extremely abundant, in particular flamingos affected by the fresh water from Lake Magadi on the crater floor.

TRIP DETAILS

Discover the untamed nature of Uganda’s Kidepo Valley Nation Park. It will be like entering the setting of the Lion King movie. In 5 days you will explore the Northen Part of the country, go to the Kidepo valley, and meet the local Karamajong people!

Nestled in the wild frontier region of Uganda, Kidepo Valley National Park is apparently the most isolated national park in Uganda but still stands out to be one of the best virgin places every wildlife viewer can ever visit in Uganda. This virgin national park is undoubtedly among the best wilderness areas in Africa, harboring a couple of extinct species of wildlife that can’t be found in any other Ugandan national park. Kidepo is right at the core of a Savannah landscape right next to a few mountainous bodies. Kidepo national park is a true gem with a huge abundance of wildlife. It remains a true rendition of tourism in Uganda but remains unknown to many! Kidepo Valley National Park was gazetted into a national park in the year 1962 and currently hosts over 75 species of mammals and 470 species of birds. All these fall in a prime game viewing location. Mammal species include: elephants, buffaloes, cheetahs, bush pig, leopards, Burchell’s zebra, oribis, giraffes, Jacksons’ hartebeest, rare patas monkey and reedbucks.

The local communities around the park include pastoral Karamojong people, similar to the Maasai of Kenya, and the IK, a hunter-gatherer tribe whose survival is threatened. Many Karamojong like Masai of Kenya, prefer to wear “traditional” dress of a blanket -like a shawl with bright red colors. Experience their ‘manyatta’ (homesteads) and also the kraal’s where their cows stay.
