Discover Masai Mara game reserve in 3 days! Masai Mara is regarded as one of Kenya’s wildlife viewing jewels. Mara means “mottled”, which is how the Masai gave it its name due to its expansive open plains mottled with woodlands. Situated in the Great Rift Valley, the Masai Mara is proudly Kenya’s largest national reserve with an area of 320 square km. It’s also a place where you have a good chance of spotting the ‘Big Five’ (Lions, Rhinos, Buffalos, Elephants & Leopards) as well as other cheetah’s, hippo’s crocodiles and much more.

There is a large number of other plains game including zebras, different species of antelopes, giraffes, and warthog, which are residents of the Mara all year round. The Mara is a perfect kingdom for the lions but there are also smaller predators such as cheetahs, hyenas, and jackals that roam the Mara area.

Another natural inhabitant is, of course, the Masai people. A semi-nomadic ethnic group known as fierce warriors and have largely remained very independent, staying strong to their traditional values and lifestyle. The Masai never hunt, but live peacefully alongside the wildlife in harmony, this co-existence makes the Masai Mara one of the world’s most interesting and unique wilderness regions.

Lake Nakuru
Lake Nakuru is home to more than 450 bird species, where you can easily locate and identify kingfishers, long-crested eagles, goliath herons and most especially famed pink flamingos. Beyond the lake, the park encompasses neighboring wilderness, where you can see sightings of black and white rhinos and Rothschild’s giraffes. They are joined by zebras, buffalos, warthogs, waterbucks, as well as, stalking predators such as leopards and spotted hyenas. Into the green forests are gazelles, impalas and Colobus monkeys. A park which has much to offer for its comparable size.

TRIP DETAILS

Discover Queen Elizabeth National park in 3 days. It’s Uganda’s most popular park and not without a reason. With around 100 species of mammals, about 606 types of birds and with a stunning nature it will capture you with the beauty. You will discover the park through the games drives, a boat cruise safari on the Kazinga channel and spend the night in the park.

The park stretches from the crater-dotted foothills of the Rwenzori ranges in the north, along the shores of Lake Edward to the remote Ishasha River in the South, incorporating a wide variety of habitats that range from wetlands to Savannah to lowland forest. The lush savannah of Queen Elizabeth National Park offers prime grazing to buffaloes, elephants, various antelopes and a variety of about 606 bird species.

The wonders of Queen Elizabeth National Park are more than what one might think of. The 100m deep Kyambura gorge features a lush tropical forest surprisingly thriving below sea level while its unique floral species bear food for the counts of Chimpanzees that inhabit the gorge. Uganda Safari enthusiasts find Kyambura gorge an exciting site since it presents both adventure and primate viewing experience. During the safari, we will have a boat cruise on the Kazinga channel. Along the channel, local people are seen loading their canoes, fetching water as buffalos wallowing, elephants shower, hippos roam around, crocodiles basking on the same banks. Watch the unbelievable life at the fishing village. Tones of storks, spoonbills, cormorants, kingfishers, lapwings, pelicans. You can expect to see buffalo, crocodile, bathing elephant, and of course a range of beautiful birds.
