Bwindi Forest consists of a large primeval forest in East Africa, with altitudes spanning from 1,160 to 2,607 meters. The forest is at the edge of the western arm of the Great Rift Valley. Bwindi Forest was recognized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) as a World Heritage Site for being the home of half the world’s population of endangered Mountain Gorillas as well as being one of the most biologically diverse areas on earth.
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is part of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, located in Southwestern Uganda, covering an area of 331 sq Km of jungle forest. It consists of 120 species of mammals, 346 bird species, 202 butterfly species, 163 tree species, 100 fern species, 27 frog species, as well as other many endangered species including chameleon, gecko to mention a few.
You also will go to Lake Bunyonyi. Lake Bunyony means place of many little birds. But it’s also called the place of five Islands. Each Island has history attached to it. The Lake is 25 km long and 7 km wide. It has a magnificent scenery and is a good place to relax as well.
Day 1: Entebbe to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
In the early morning after breakfast at 7.00 am our guide will pick you from the guesthouse/hotel in
Entebbe and then leave for the South West of Uganda. So the adventure can begin. Our first stop is in Mbara to have lunch. From here we will continue the journey through Kabale District passing villages, cultivated farms, and hills before we reach in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. You will have dinner and spend the night at Rushaga Gorilla camp or Ichumbi Gorilla lodge.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable forest & Lake Bunyonyi
Today our guide will pick you up from your lodge, at 7.30am transfer to park gate (5-10 minutes). The pre-tracking orientation starts at 8:00AM. And then it’s time to really meet the gorilla’s! Trekking through the thick jungle, traversing canopies of thick undergrowth can be tough, wet, strenuous but not impossible – the tracking can last from as little as 45 minutes to as much as 10 hours. The activity depends on location of gorillas the previous day. Visitors, therefore, are supposed to move along with packed/picnic lunch and water, and should be equipped with strong water-proof clothing and must be averagely healthy.
Please note that after Gorilla tracking, our guide will drive two and half hours to Lake Bunyonyi for chilling, relaxation and overnight. Time permitting, if you like extreme adventure, you can get on high ropes/zip lining adventure which is optional. You will have dinner and spend the night at Natures prime Island cabins or Crater Bay Cottages
Day 3: Bwindi Impenetrable forest to Kampala or Entebbe
The last morning you have the option of getting on a boat ride to see the punishment Island at Lake Bunyonyi. The history is that until 1940 unmarried girls who got pregnant would be left at the island and die.
The driver will bring you back to your preferred destination in Kampala or Entebbe.

Bwindi Impenetrable forest
Bwindi Gorilla impenetrable forest National Park is about 330sq km, with spectacular scenery, impressive forest views. The whole geographical scenery is basically hilly and mountainous. At an elevation between 1160 to 2607m (3806 to 8553ft) rains can shower anytime in Bwindi
forest, it is recommended that visitors pack rainwear, waterproof clothing, and appropriate hiking shoes to wear on during gorilla tracking or forest walks. Daytime temperatures range from 23C/73F at times dropping to as low as 11C/52F.
There are 15 gorilla families which have been habituated for gorilla viewing, all of which can be accessed from specific locations/sectors of the forest. Eight people are permitted to view a single family per day. To trek gorillas, you need a gorilla permit/license. Gorilla licenses are booked by
location, not by the name of a gorilla family. There are 4 starting gates namely; in North at BUHOMA, in the East at RUHIJA and in the South at RUSHAGA & South West at NKURINGO.
