who’s going

Experience an incredible Tanzania wildlife safari in 7 Days. Located slightly off the main safari route, Tarangire National Park is a lovely, quiet park in Northern Tanzania. It is most famous for its elephant migration, birding and authentic safari atmosphere.  The majority of travelers to the region either miss out Tarangire altogether or venture into the park for a matter of hours – leaving swathes of Tarangire virtually untouched!

With a game viewing area that is roughly ten times the size of nearby Manyara NP and a concentration of game that is exceptional from July through to October, this seasonal Tanzania safari park is a little gem on the Northern safari circuit, especially if you love elephants!

Tarangire is the surprise package on the Northern circuit.  Often overshadowed by the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Crater, Tarangire has huge concentrations of animals in the peak months and a fraction of the visitor numbers of any of the other Northern parks.

The Ngorongoro Crater is a breathtakingly beautiful setting and the best place in Tanzania to see the Big Five. The Ngorongoro Crater and surrounding highlands together form one of Africa’s most beautiful regions. Volcanic craters form stunning backdrops to some of the most fertile and richest grazing grounds in Africa.  The most famous such crater is without question Ngorongoro, the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera and home to the highest density of big game in Africa, including all the big five and plenty of predators. Ngorongoro is justifiably one of the continent’s most famous safari destinations. After this experience, you will also visit Lake Manyara

Lake Manyara is a lovely scenic park on the road from Arusha to the Ngorongoro Crater, famous for its tree climbing lions, good elephants, and baboons. The lake itself takes up much of the park, leaving a strip of land running along its shores where game concentrates.

Often visited for an afternoon game drive on the way to Ngorongoro, it would be a shame to miss out Manyara if you’re driving straight past it – but it’s really not up there with the heavyweight big boys in terms of game viewing.  However, if you’re going on to Ngorongoro and Serengeti, you’ll see plenty of game there as well.

Safari in Swahili simply means a “journey”. Nowadays it has become a synonym for wildlife viewing in the African bush. We explore the endless plains to discover the vast expanse and wilderness of Serengeti. Indulge, take your time and relish each moment spotting wildlife, We search for the most wonderful natural phenomenon, the Grand Migration of thousands and thousands of wildebeest and zebra crossing the plains in search of water and food. Crossing fingers that we will see this, being something so natural and not manmade, we cannot guarantee, but hopefully we’ll experience it. Enjoy and cherish morning and afternoon game drives in the Park with packed lunch. Dinner and overnight at Mbugani Luxury Camp – Central Serengeti

Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater
After early breakfast, drive towards Ngorongoro Crater with packed lunch. The Crater is one of the largest intact volcanic caldera in the world, offering fabulous game viewing and is one of the only such places in Africa. Large grazing animals such as wildebeest, buffalo, gazelle and zebra that depend on the open grasslands are in the crater, attracting predators, the black- maned lion, the leopard and hyena. The elephant found are the lone males. A soda lake attracts water birds, including flamingos and is a suitable place for predators to make their kill. Wildly beautiful as it is, it is not surprising that Ngorongoro Crater has been called a Garden of Eden. In the evening drive to Karatu area adjacent to Ngorongoro conservation area Dinner and overnight at Green Hills Lodge

Day 6: Lake Manyara
After breakfast, collect packe lunch and to Lake Manyara for game drive, enjoy morning and afternoon game drive at Lake Manyara National Park, the park is home of the tree-climbing lions but not guranteed to be spotted. Apart from the varied types of landscape including jungle, swamp, savannah and the Great Rift Valley wall which is a catchment area for the rivers which flow into the park creating the fascinating ground water tropical forest at the foot of the wall, there are also a large variety of animals including Giraffe, Zebra, Elephant, Gazelle, hippos, monkeys and about 400 different species of birds providing the perfect introduction to Tanzania’s birdlife and even a first-time visitor to Africa might reasonably expect to observe 100 of these in one day. CHECKLIST

Here are some of our recommendations to you for getting through a safari:

  • Plenty of sun protection, lotion or cream (High SPF)
  • A wide-brimmed hat to shade you from the sun, this should have string/straps if standing in the van or jeep as it could be blown off.
  •  A good pair of sunglasses as you are on the equator where the sun is very strong. Prescription sun spectacles are not recommended as may scratch or fall off the vehicles.
  •  Bottle’s or jugs of water to keep you hydrated. Spending a lot of time in the sun, even when wearing hats and sunglasses will dehydrate you in most cases
  • A fleece/jumper/sweater for the early morning (or a safari jacket) and evening game drives, as it tends to get very chilly, especially in the highlands and in the Masai Mara.
  • Shorts and t-shirts or light trousers for the daytime.
  • Long trousers and long or short-sleeved shirts for the evening and protection from mosquitoes
  •  Plenty of film or flash card memory for your camera and a battery charger for all electronic devices.
  •  Swimming costumes/bathing suits as most of the lodges and camps have swimming pools.
  •  A good pair of binoculars (there’s usually just one pair in vehicles).
  •  A pair of safari shoes or trekking boots.
  • A pack of wet wipes.
  •  Mosquito repellent.
